Congrats to Our Team Riders On Their Wins in USA Skateboardings Ecosystems Comp!!

USA Skateboarding had its #ecosystems contest this past week and we are proud to say that three of our team riders placed in their divisions!

Congrats to all the girls who competed - you were all amazing!!

Read on for more results!

Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word team rider, Klara Kermoade earned a well deserved 1st place in Women’s 13 and Under Bowl. Her run was powerful and full of back-to-back tricks. She’s only 13 and after watching this, we can’t wait to see her future progression!! Get ready!!

Team rider Elle Warne resides in Utah where it’s hard to skate in the winter, yet somehow this young shredder always finds innovative lines and trick combos no matter what time of year it is. Entering into her freshman year of High School, we hope 14-year-old Elle encourages other girls in Utah to skate with her - maybe by forming a skate club at her high school. Her well deserved 3rd place finish in 14-16 year old Women’s Bowl at this comp makes her one to watch!

To win “Best Trick” in the Women’s division (all ages) is a major thing - and when you are 12 it’s even bigger! Team rider Briel Weingartner has been on the scene pushing the boundaries for young women in street skating for awhile now. It’s awesome to see her recognized for her innovative style and trick execution!

2022 USA Skateboarding National Championships Results.

This weekend was nerve wracking for so many people in skateboarding. It was the weekend of the semi- finals and finals for the 2022 USA National Skateboarding Championships, presented by Toyota, that took place at CATF in Vista, CA. This event determines who will now be on the 2023 USA National Skateboarding Team. (This does NOT determine who will compete in Paris in 2024)

There was a huge new crop of female skaters trying out for the Women’s Street Division and an even larger group trying out for the Women’s Park Team. It was nice to see Jordyn Barratt, Minna Stess, Jordan Santana, Bryce Wettstein and Arianna Carmona still in the mix and competing at high levels. Twelve year old GN4LW team rider, Katelyn West, made the finals and was simply stoked to be skating with women she has looked up to since she started skating.

Rumor has it that the top TWO in each discipline will make the USA National Team and the other TWO spots (there are 4 spots total in each discipline) will be filled by the discretion of USA Skateboarding. We are eagerly waiting for the official announcement. We are also hoping they will share the criteria of how the selections are made for the 2 other spots. Points from previous year? Potential gauged at event? Or?

Stay Tuned!!!

Congrats to all the skaters this weekend!

High Performance Coach, Mimi Knoop, and Two Others "Quit" USA Skateboarding.

A little over an hour ago. USA Skateboarding’s High-Performance Coach, Mimi Knoop, posted her resignation from Team USA on Instagram. She included board members Micaela Ramirez and Oscar Loreto Jr. in the post as well (each has posted their own resignation info on their respective Instagram pages)

No official reason was given for the exits, but with everything we have seen going on lately in the news regarding USA Skateboarding, we can bet there are more shakeups coming.

As has been reported, Don Bostwick is now the new chair at USA Skateboarding, so we expect to see a lot of positive changes in the very near future!

Stay tuned.

Breaking News Regarding USA Skateboarding

Team USA 2020 Olympics - Photo Ian Logan

In case you haven’t been following the whirlwind the past few days, USA Skateboarding was audited by the USOPC and found deficient in 28 areas out of 48. That is not good news for USA Skateboarding and the prosperity of these amazing athletes. Let’s be clear, this report has nothing to do with the athletes doing anything wrong, these issues are all about the organizational team.

It has now been made official that the USA Chair of Skateboarding, Gary Ream, has officially resigned from USA Skateboarding.

For more in-depth info, we encourage you to head over to Inside the Games.

This is an ongoing story, and we will update you as it comes in.
