The Hermosa Beach Historical Society & Museum Announces Our Upcoming Exhibition Opening:

SKATEBOARDING, THEN

A Student Exhibition by Dylan Lombardo

Hermosa Beach, CAThe Hermosa Beach Museum is pleased to announce SKATEBOARDING, THEN an exhibition about the rise of skateboarding in Hermosa Beach and the South Bay. The presentation marks the first student led exhibition at the Hermosa Beach Museum, curated by our Museum Collections Volunteer, Dylan Lombardo.

This exhibition of photographs, film, and objects welcomes back familiar decades of skateboarding. Featured are photographs from our Easy Reader Photographic Collection, objects from the private collection of Cindy Whitehead, and skateboarding film from Gerard Ravel.

Skateboarding in Hermosa Beach is a common thread amongst several generations from the individuals in the community who pioneered the sport to today’s youth. This exhibition features a glimpse into the world that was ‘skateboarding then’.

There will be an opening event for this exhibition on Saturday May 22nd from 11 AM to 4 PM. Timed ticket registration will be required for attendance. Spots are limited. The exhibition will be open by appointment after the opening event.
