Skateboarder Mariah Duran in Wasserman's NFT Release - Get Ready to Bid!
Image via "The Collective Series"

We love seeing that female athletes (WNBA's Sue Bird and NWSL's Megan Rapinoe leading the charge) are getting in on the NFT craze and we were especially excited to hear that skateboarding's Mariah Duran will be part of a release of digital trading cards set to drop next month.

Duran is represented by Wasserman Media as are Bird, Rapinoe, as well as the WNBA's Charli Collier,  and Aari McDonald, Paralympic Track & Field athlete Scout Bassett, and Olympic Fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad who also have NFT's being released as part of "The Collective Series".

This series of collectable (and one of a kind) digital trading cards are available to the public on May 10th and are designed by Los Angeles artist Lauren Nipper.

NFT's are a great way for women to control the narrative and have true ownership of the image that is out there. Case in point, model and actor,  Emily has said for years that photographer Richard Prince appropriated her image (a series of photos - including nudes - that were taken at the start of her career and then released as she became more well known) for his work. Now she’s doubling back on it for one of her own. How's that for #winning?

It's great to see women taking the lead when it comes to their own brand.

While we don't have any idea what the NFT of Mariah will look like at this point (but we know it will be awesome), so stay tuned on May 10th to get a look and bid on the Mariah Duran NFT via THIS LINK.

Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word founder Cindy Whitehead, is featured in the new Mazda Zoom Zoom Magazine in an article about California Dreamin' and three people who are challenging the staus quo and are pushing the boundaries in their chosen sports here in Los Angeles.

Cindy, along with Linda Ly, who has been leading a movement to clean up the LA River for kayakers, and Hernan Montenegro who creates ultra light bike frames that are durable and timeless were all profiled.

How rad is THIS?

We are extremely proud to announce the XS Helmets x Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word signature collab helmet. We couldn't think of a better company than XS Helmets to work with to bring you the next level of badass.

It's like nothing else out there on the market for female riders  - very stealth in matte black, gold lettering, a pink skull, and Cindy's motto & signature on the back. It even has bright pink fit pads inside! We've once again teamed up with our rad friends at Longboarding for Peace and included their logo on the collab to raise awareness for this awesome movement.

Look for updates on the release date of the XS Helmets x Girl is NOT a 4 Letter Word collab on the XS website as well as here on the GN4LW site.

The Microdance x GN4LW.

Had a great time with Alex & Gavin from the band The Microdance the other night in downtown LA. They're here recording their new album at theLab Studio with producer Frankie Siragusa,
but found a couple hours to meet up at The Ace Hotel,  hang out, talk skateboarding & music, and shoot a few pics. So rad that they made this personal CD for me. These boys are the best! Love their music and can't wait for their new album to be finished!
In the meantime check out their Facebook page and follow them for behind the scenes photos in the recording studio, show updates and album launch.
