In her recent Instagram post, Noodee describes in detail what she wore, and let’s just say it was amazing!!

"Surviving Summer" A New Teen Skateboarding + Surfing Drama Series

We have to admit that we binged watched “Surviving Summer” on Netflix in one night. Yep, it’s that good! Expelled from school and exiled to Australia, a rebel New York teen (Summer played by Sky Katz) makes waves among a young surfer's inner circle — and leaves a mess in her wake.

We are not sure if Sky Katz is doing her own stunts or if she skates/surfs in real life - so, if you know who in the skate world is doubling for her, please let us know so we can give them a shout-out!

Update as of 6/16/22 - Summer’s stunt double in Australia portion of the show is Ava Godfrey! We love finding out that rad skaters we know get these cool jobs - Go Ava! The stunt double for Summer skating in NYC is Veronique Chalarca. Good job there too!

Surviving Summer is on Netflix now!.

This is a Find! This All Girls Skate Video Was Released in 1992

We love it when we all come together as a community to share the history of women’s skateboarding. Our friends at BigFoot Magazine just wrote about the Villa Villa Cola OG skate film “Getting Nowhere Faster” and we shared that on our Facebook page. In response, one of our rad followers, Marc Brinkers, came forward to show us his own VHS tape of this rare classic, SK8HERS, which was released in 1992 and was one 30-minute VHS tape in a two-part set - the other VHS tape was SKATE SESSIONS.

SK8HERS features Cara-Beth Burnside, Rhonda Doyle, Saecha Clarke, and Diane Desidero.

The film was produced by Patty Segovia (from the All Girls Skate Jam days!), and Brock Suter and Ethan Fox did the cinematography, directing, and editing.

And don’t fear that you can’t get your hands on this little-known gem - we have it playing right here on our site for you to enjoy!

Skateboarder Mia Lovell in new "Unvape" Commercial

Skateboarder Mia Lovell is featured in this new “Unvape” commercial talking about why she doesn’t vape. It’s great to hear the younger generation saying it’s not so cool - especially if you are an athlete.

You may know Mia from the many contests she’s been in, as well as seeing her skateboard in the film, “The Map of Tiny Perfect Things”. Thanks for standing up for what you believe in Mia!

Vans Skateboarding Presents ‘Lizzie’: A Short Film Capturing the Rarely Seen Side of Pro Skater Lizzie Armanto

Watch the premiere of Lizzie!!

As the global icon of creative expression, Vans Skateboarding is proud to present Lizzie, a short 35mm film directed by renowned filmmaker Greg Hunt. Unveiling a personal, intimate account of Lizzie Armanto beyond her skateboarding accolades and identity as one of the world’s most talented skateboarders, the film is the first to explore Lizzie’s life through the lens of those closest to her.

Tapping into stories, memories, and perspectives from fellow friends and skaters— ranging from skate legend and mentor Tony Hawk to Vans’ team rider and rising talent Mami Tezuka— Vans and Hunt capture the essence of Lizzie through poignant voiceovers paired against the backdrop of footage from Lizzie’s daily life skating, hanging with friends, and celebrating the launch of her very first signature skate shoe.

“Ultimately, I aimed to create something special with this little film,” said Hunt, whose previous work includes Vans’ Propeller, Alright OK, and Nice to See You skate films, among others. “I’ve never made anything quite like it. I think it’s a beautiful and honest portrait of Lizzie.”

In addition to Hawk and Tezuka, the film also features the voices of Lizzie’s mom Eva Armanto, husband and pro skater Axel Cruysberghs, and best friend Alysha Le. The film features an original score by Reverend Baron, who also composed the score for Vans’ Alright, OK.  The past several years have been momentous for Lizzie, from competing in skateboarding’s 2021 Olympic debut in Tokyo to working with Vans to design The Lizzie, a skate shoe representing “something else entirely” for a wider range of skateboarders—and Vans’ first signature skateboarding shoe designed by a woman in 20 years.

Those who know Lizzie know that she embodies the true spirit of creative expression in all its forms. Her storied career includes many firsts—like the first woman to grace TransWorld SKATEboarding’s magazine cover, one of the first women in years to appear on the cover of Thrasher, and the first to complete Tony Hawk’s Loop. Lizzie is a pioneer and a role model for many. Vans’ new film delivers an even deeper look into who Lizzie is as a person, exploring her one-of-a-kind perspective on skateboarding and the world.

This New Music Video Is What We Needed Today.

Wednesday is the middle of the week and sometimes you just need something good to get you through the next few days…

For us, this new music video from indie darling mokina is it!

The video “Stars”, filmed in her home base of Portugal, is a celebration of friendships — the intimate, romantic and platonic bonds we form through them, and is pictured here through her group of eight girl friends skateboarding, eating pizza, and chasing sunsets.

Shot by Portuguese videographer, photographer and skateboarder João Pedro Cordeiro, the video was styled by Segunda Vida, a vintage surfwear brand run by Beatriz Mota, one of the skateboarders featured in the video; as well as Sana, a knitted hat company created by Debbie who also shines through the cast, and local brand Big Raven.

The ensemble of the video also features girl bosses Sina Luxor, interdisciplinary artist and athlete; Kaman Lim, creator of handmade knitted goods; Galina Bakker and Dana Scheltens who work for the Netherlands’ biggest surf community Surfana; Talia Kaufman, who has worked with several NGOs empowering girls through skate and sports worldwide.

Sit back, relax, listen to the awesome music and enjoy the video on repeat

"A Good Friday to Fall" by Rachelle Vinberg

The short film “A Good Friday to Fall” is written and directed by Rachelle Vinberg (from The Skate Kitchen and HBO’s BETTY) and features newcomer Dafny Estrada. It follows the two skaters throughout a fun day in the city where Rachelle shows Dafny what skateboarding and just having fun on your board is all about.

We don’t know how we missed this when it dropped in February, but we are happy we get to share it with you now!

  • Competitions will feature world-class athletes in Skateboard, BMX and Moto X

  • ZOZOMARINE STADIUM will host X Games competitions, cultural festival experience and music

X Games, the world's premier action sports event, announced today that a summer edition of the event will take place in Japan for the first time ever. X Games has reached an agreement with X Games Japan Organizing Committee, a consortium led by Japanese event production company Shin So Sha in conjunction with the City of Chiba, to collaborate on X Games Chiba 2022, which is scheduled to take place April 22-24, 2022. The event will feature Skateboard, BMX and Moto X competitions over three days at ZOZOMARINE STADIUM.

For more than 25 years, X Games has successfully organized action sports events in 12 countries around the globe, attracting more than six million attendees. Since its inception in 1995, the X Games have become the leading action sports competition and lifestyle brand, spotlighting the world's best action sports athletes in BMX, Skateboard and Moto X at the X Games, and Ski and Snowboard at the winter version of the X Games against the backdrop of each individual host city.

In addition to local Japanese broadcasts and ESPN's U.S. media, X Games Chiba competitions will be televised on ESPN networks around the world and distributed via other international media outlets and local television broadcasters in various markets.

Along with world-class action sports competition and athletes, X Games Chiba will feature musical performances, art installations, food and festival experience. The inaugural event will have a distinctly Japanese flavor, showcasing the beautiful country, cities and culture of Japan in everything from the course designs to the medals, and highlighting the youth and sports culture in Japan throughout the festival village and live event coverage.

Sakura Yosozumi, X Games skateboard bronze medalist and Tokyo 2020 gold medalist, said, "I'm so happy to hear that the X Games, the dream event for skateboarders all over the world, will be held in Japan! I think it's a stage that every skateboarder has dreamed of, and even now that skateboarding is an Olympic sport, X Games is one of my favorite events that I want to keep competing in. I have participated in the X Games twice before, but I have yet to win a gold medal at the X Games, so when I am selected to compete, I will do my best to win my dream gold medal."

Naomi Premieres On The CW Tonight (did we mention she's a skateboarder?).

Tonight is the premier of the new CW TV show, NAOMI, and we have to say, this show is definitely worth watching!

Below is everything you need to know.

From Oscar® nominee/Emmy® winner Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship (“Arrow”), and starring Kaci Walfall (“Army Wives,” “Power,” “The Lion King” on Broadway) in the title role, the DC drama NAOMI follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny.

When a supernatural event shakes her hometown of Port Oswego to the core, Naomi (Kaci Walfall) sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones, “Kevin Can Wait”). She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg (Barry Watson, “7th Heaven,” “The Loudest Voice”) and linguistics teacher Jennifer (Mouzam Makkar, “The Fix”). After an encounter with Zumbado (Cranston Johnson, “Filthy Rich”), the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo parlor owner Dee (Alexander Wraith, “Orange Is the New Black”), who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unfolding the mystery about herself, Naomi also effortlessly navigates her high school friendships with kids on the military base as well as well as local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan (Daniel Puig); Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob (Aidan Gemme); proud “townie” Anthony (Will Meyers, “Bad Education”); and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes (Camila Moreno), who works in a vintage collectible shop. As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.

 And she SKATEBOARDS!

Based on the characters from DC, NAOMI is written and executive produced by Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship (“Arrow”), and executive produced Paul Garnes of ARRAY Filmworks. Amanda Marsalis (“Echo Park,” “Queen Sugar”) directed and co-executive produced the pilot episode. The series is from ARRAY Filmworks in association with Warner Bros. Television.
